I didn’t realize it had been so long since I last posted until just now. The beginning of each month I thought about writing a new blog. At the same time I think my book is almost complete. That thought leads me to wait until it’s completed and ready for the next step so I can report on that. Now, it is finished, kinda.

Once I read my last chapter to the my writing group (actually one of my comrades had to finish reading it for me, just a tad emotional it is) I returned to the first chapter to begin a final edit before passing it along to my Beta readers.

I gave myself a deadline for completing that final edit, and I missed it because Tim and I are finally on our honeymoon. We planned our trip soon after our wedding in 2019. We were to depart a year later in May of 2020. We all know what happened in 2020.

We are currently in England on a cruise ship after hitting several ports in Spain. Today it’s Stonehenge, a huge item on my bucket list. My idea was to get my edits done and hand the book off before leaving so I wouldn’t fret about what my readers thought. That didn’t happen because I once again got hung up on the first paragraph.

Writers tell you to walk away from your completed manuscript for a while. I didn’t really plan on doing that but I am by default. It’s a good thing. I will be refreshed and anxious to continue after this respite. The sights and sounds we’ve seen so far are truly inspiring and there’s much more to come.

Our first “sea day” I came up with a new opening paragraph. I think I need to bring the three versions I’ve come up with for an opening paragraph back to my writers group. I’m not sure how good my perspective is at this point but with this trip I may gain a little more insight.
