Color Notes Art

Back in the Saddle

Back in the Saddle

It’s been more than five years since I last displayed my paintings. Here and there I’ve had a painting in a group show but that’s all. If you recall the year 2020 was not conducive to art shows which is when we moved to Bradenton. Since then I have focused on writing, until recently.

Once again I’ve picked up my brushes and by happenstance I received an email about an urgent need by a local art association. Apparently, an artist backed out of an artist-in-residence program for the November and December time slot. Feeling like I was ready to jump in again I replied to the email that I was interested. And there you have it – I’m back.

How Soon they Forget

Having noted it’s been a while since I’ve done a show I’m now in the throws of rushing to frame, making price cards, and deciding which paintings to display. Not only that, I no longer have a vehicle that can easily handle the load.

Regardless of the details in getting ready, I’m very excited about this opportunity. The space is a gallery/studio in the lobby of a very nice apartment building in downtown Sarasota. I will be sharing the space with another woman, Catherine Armbruster, who is also from New Jersey.

Creative Liberties, who organizes these events, has sent out press releases like this one (https://www.srqmagazine.com/srq-daily/2025-10-28/27960_November-and-Beyond-at-Creative-Liberties?share=1).

A reception with artists is Thursday, November 20, 5-7 p.m. On view through December at Gaze Gallery, 340 Central Avenue in Sarasota’s Rosemary District. Gallery hours are Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Wish me luck, and if you can make it to the reception, I’d love to see you there!
