Where’s the Top to This Container?

Where’s the Top to This Container?

We’ve all been there. Its time to put away the leftovers but finding a matching top to the “just right” container is elusive. It’s been a pet peeve of mine for decades. I may throw away a container that’s seen better days, but never the top. That’s where domestic unrest comes in.

I know there is a top that will fit and so I hunt until I find it. Some are not willing to engage in that activity. Thus, we have the ever present complaint that we don’t have said top to all the containers.

Last week my husband ordered a set of new containers. To be fair they are glass which is preferable to plastic. Once upon a time we thought it was okay to re-heat things in plastic, now that we know better glass wins.

Now I am left with an even bigger conglomeration of tops and bottoms. My inclination if to gather the lot of them (plastic ones that is) and put them in the garage in a box. The theory is, if I don’t need to dip into said box for a year, the next step is the recycling bin.

To even further my solution to the problem, I have ordered an organizer for the lids. Supposedly it can hold forty lids. It may have seemed impossible at one point in time, but I may actually be getting organized. Not in the way that some people are, ie. my spice rack will never be alphabetized, but a little perhaps better that average.

Of course I am putting off painting and writing for these projects. Perhaps its more a case of fear of failure than a desire to be organized. Regardless I have paintings in mind and a new chapter in my head. Both will get unstuck for good or ill in the next few weeks.
